December 2018

I’m so sorry for being inactive on the site. I’m finally really getting into it and getting motivated so here we go. I would like to say that this week’s research was focused on a specific topic but honestly there was wide variety of things I looked into. That being said, I gathered a ton of information on plastic pollution in oceans and on land that I would like to bring light to. There are five major garbage patches floating in three of our five oceans. In order of smallest to largest,...Read More...

Hi everyone! My inquiry question is: How should government funding be used for the prevention of wildfires? In my last round of research, I looked into the effects wildfires have on the surrounding water and soil of an affected area. This time, I will be researching the effects wildfires have on air quality and how it might be linked to climate change. - Of course, everyone knows that we rely heavily upon plants and trees to purify the atmospheric air so we can breathe. They do so by taking...Read More...

Are self driving cars worth all of the ethical problems they cause? This round I am looking at the problems that self driving cars cause I’m dividing this post into two sections, one research part and one opinion part. The opinion part is mostly based off of the survey I made, but my opinions are also stated. I might do this for all of my posts because of my topic, but we’ll see 😊 Since this is my first round of research (ever), feel free to let me know if you think I should do something...Read More...

Hey everyone! As you may already know, my research for this cycle has come to an end, but I have decided to come up with another round to focus on touching base with the aspects of markets involving adolescents. From my previous rounds of research, you may know that my inquiry question is.. "Why are people being affected by drugs at music festivals?" However, I decided it would be interesting to add in the factor of markets and how they are promoting "drugs" as a liable activity. So, in this...Read More...

However, I decided to make another research round about my topic and take my injury question further! For those who haven’t been following my forum, my inquiry question for this cycle is: “what does it mean to be conscious?” In this round, I’ll be looking into psychoactive drugs to broaden the understanding of the connection between consciousness and unconsciousness. While we...Read More...

Round 4: My question is: Should euthanasia be legalized? So far I have looked at the different places that it is legalized and their rules regarding it, how it conflicts with religion and which religions support it or are against it and who would implicate it and how does it affect those who do. (4)Here is a quick recap of what euthanasia is: “Euthanasia is a deliberate act undertaken by one person with the intention of ending the life of another person to relieve that person’s suffering...Read More...

ROUND 2 For this round in my research, I wanted to gain more information on how accessible counselling and psychotherapy is to different kinds of people from different backgrounds, and why people choose not seek help even when the opportunity is very accessible to them. There are many different types of mental health care people can receive. In Canada, the average price and wait list of these are: Individual Therapy and Psychology: $100.00-200.00 per 60 minute session -...Read More...

Hello everyone! In this round of research , I will be looking at examples of cultural appropriation in visual art and film. Cultural appropriation has impacted all the arts in some way at some point, and I want to look at different types. * I also want everyone to be aware that this post will contain brief mentions of racially motivated violence and other sensitive subject matter. * Much like in literature, visual arts and film grapple with cultural appropriation, and both sides of the...Read More...

Effect of condition of pregnancy on child development

Hi peeps! I’m doing my project on babies because I’ve always wondered if every little detail matters as to raising a child, especially during pregnancy. Wouldn’t it be great if we could find out how to perfectly raise a child to our fancy? (It actually might be a good thing that we can’t, yet). My previous knowledge is that women aren’t supposed to use drugs, alcohol, or smoke cigarettes during pregnancy but I never knew why. I also knew that they shouldn’t exercise or have hot baths. Well...Read More...

Positive: Here are some of the positive effects that are...Read More...

Hey everyone, My inquiry question is How does the foster care system affect children placed within it? On my research round 3 post, I said this would be my metamorphosis, but it turns out I get one more research round which is great because previously I looked into physical and mental effects. Which means it's only fitting to research the emotional effect of the foster care system and what happens to children who age out of the system. Emotional Effects Before I can dive into the emotional...Read More...

Hi everyone, For this post I decided to focus on how participating in music and art therapy can impact people dealing with sicknesses. As I was researching, I discovered that in most cases, health is described to not only be an absence of disease, but to be healthy is to be in a complete state of physical, mental and social well-being. (1) People who participate in the creative process can be happier and are less likely to experience memory loss and cognitive issues. (2,3) Music therapy...Read More...

Hello folks, As many of you may know from my last post, I am looking into the concept of cultural appropriation. For those who are unfamiliar with the term, cultural appropriation refers to somebody using a culture to which they do not belong as their own. In regards to the arts, this could mean somebody writing a story as a character of a culture to which the author does not belong, which is what I am focussing on in this post (and likely in my next few rounds.) One particular example that...Read More...
