Hey its Kaley!
My inquiry question for my first project plan on Butterfly Effect is "What is beauty? A reflection on the pursuit of beauty and how social media affects it?
- ii) Why I am interested in this inquiry question?
I believe in the 21st century we have an obsession with beauty. Social media plays a role in promoting a perception of beauty. I am curious to know if beauty is a shared experience? How is it different around the world? Does Beauty have a face? Does social media some how widen our perception or narrow our perception of Beauty. As a teenanger, I find social media feeds our insecurities by using tools to obtain perfection that is not reflected real life. It encourages us to put up a front. I am interested in how people perceive beauty in the 21st century? How do people find others attractive based on how they look as well as the flip side, of how people dislike people based on how they look? I am curious of how our perception affects how we treat people? How and why people value certain qualities over other qualities. How we value beauty and how we define what is beautiful. How we make judgements on others and ourselves based on how we look.

Research Round 3: The social media role
If social media is a tool that is used to re-create beauty through filters and distortion of our imperfections how do we use it to discover and appreciate our difference as beautiful. Move from Recreate to Appreciate.
Is the use of social media use to undermine women, people of color, body shame and distract us from what is beautiful. What can we do ?
If Beauty is an experience, how can we share that experience with others to increase beauty in world around us. What role can social media have in creating beauty in the world.
What could we put into a social media survival guide for teens that I would want to read as a teenanger.
