Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be back online and to get back into posting regularly! For my fifth cycle, I will be focusing on drug addiction and whether or not getting rid of the stigma around drug addiction affects usage. So, my question is...

"Does socially accepting drug addiction affect its usage among consumers positively or negatively?"

I read an article about how Portugal lifted any and all criminal penalties for drug use and how positive their outcome has been. So, I will be referencing this situation a lot in hope to find an answer to my question.

Keep a look-out for my project plan! See you guys soon!

Hey Heeva,,,

You have got an educative research on drug addiction.Drug addiction can lead to the following effects:

  • Respiratory system. The lungs can be damaged by any drug that is smoked, causing diseases like emphysema, lung cancer, and chronic bronchitis. Opioids depress breathing, which can worsen asthma.
  • Kidney damage. Many drugs can cause long-term kidney damage, including kidney failure, which is life threatening. This is caused by increased body temperature, breakdown of muscle tissue, and dehydration.
  • Liver damage. Heroin and prescription opioids can cause liver damage. This damage is more severe when the drugs are combined with alcohol. In severe cases, a person may have life-threatening liver failure.          It can also damage brain cells and the person experiences change in memory.          Here is a link which might help:
