Project Plan Series #2 - How can we prevent Sexual Exploitation?

Jim Liu (Charles Best) ·
Hey Readers! Now the big question: What am i doing to do next? Well with some interesting incentives, this round of research will now shift from Meat Production Environmental Impacts to.... Sexual Exploitation. Human Trafficking. I know, that is a BIG random jump, but since this is right around the age we are at, I feel like everyone needs to be aware of this low-lying topic. I'll catch you with this one line: All this, happens as close as two cities away. Right in the lower-mainland of BC.

Hey Jim! This is a really impactful inquiry question and I can't wait to read the research you come up with! This topic is very heavy and will certainly be difficult, but also is crucial to be aware of. Here is a link I found to a website for an organization that helps victims of sexual exploitation (specifically children), the website not only includes a breakdown of what sexual exploitation is, but also includes many testimonies. Looking forward to hearing more from you! Good luck!

Research S2 Round 1 How can we prevent sexual exploitation?

Jim Liu (Charles Best) ·
Hello fellow reader! It's me! Hope you are doing well! First off, I will clarify what this exploitation is, this is a sexual abuse of children and youth for a return of drugs, food, shelter, protection, money etc. (1) This can include sexual acts, or creating pornography. (1) Defined in Canada, anyone under 18 years of age. Other terms used are “Child Prostitution, Youth Sex Trade”. (1) Basically, taking advantage of a youth for a sexual purpose without giving any regard to their input.

I never felt as if it was a problem we were familiar with but I was shocked to see your comment saying that it happens just as well in the lower mainland! Hey Jim! Your topic is a very serious one and I am so glad you’re covering it. Its interesting to know what the exact definition of sexual exploitation is, especially when not many people know what sexual exploitation is. I have heard of many stories where victims of sexual exploitation did not even know they were victims. So this makes me think, in other areas, is sexual exploitation seen as an actual problem? What I mean by that is, do other areas recognize the fact that it is a problem...

Hey Jim, Great job, I'm wondering whether the consequences and seriousness of sexual exploitation is treated differently in different parts of the world. I know that in some countries, it's rarely treated as a real issue and almost never publicized. I'm not sure if you have already planned to do this, but hopefully you'll consider it and maybe incorporate it into your research! Good luck, Maiya!!!

Hi Jim, your metamorphosis is really well done! I've been a vegetarian for a while and I've grown accustomed to not eating meat, but a lot of my friends claim that they couldn't live without meat. It's not as hard as people assume, and there are a lot of alternative options. However, people have preconceived ideas which might make them more reluctant to convert, even if it's for the greater good of our planet. Great work!

This is really interesting! I was thinking, as far as the sexualized songs go, it's fine if people listen to that kind of music in their free time, but there should be stricter guidelines on what should be played on the radio! They should know that younger kids listen as well, and censored versions aren't always enough. The radio is all about artist promotion, or at least that's a big part of it. It is certainly important to understand the difference between sadness and depression as they are neurologically different and, though in some respects can stem from similar experiences or stimuli, depression is a more difficult place to "Pick yourself up from."
