Inquiry Question

Inquiry Question: How Does the Foster Care System Affect Children Placed In It? Sadly, there were about 47,885 children within our foster care system in 2011. Many of them aged out of foster care and had no where to go. The foster care system is something I'm very curious about because I've met multiple people who were placed in it. Some were lucky to get adopted, others are still in it and some aged out. After hearing their life stories, they were very emotional and I believe doing an...Read More...

Hello everyone!! For my first inquiry project here, I decided to look into the meaning of consciousness. This particular topic really intrigues me principally because I feel like there are many degrees of awareness. In grade 9, I was learning about the themes of reality, dreams and imagination when my class was reading "A Midsummer Night's Dream". We had to ask ourselves if the characters in the play were being delusional when they were seeing mythical creatures like fairies. These topics...Read More...

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be back online and to get back into posting regularly! For my fifth cycle, I will be focusing on drug addiction and whether or not getting rid of the stigma around drug addiction affects usage. So, my question is... "Does socially accepting drug addiction affect its usage among consumers positively or negatively?" I read an article about how Portugal lifted any and all criminal penalties for drug use and how positive their outcome has been. So, I will be...Read More...

After entering the body, it kills cells, making some of them explode,...Read More...

Why there is an outcry against FGM despite the firm traditional beliefs in it in the same communities ? What the effect of FGM are upon the...Read More...

Hey, guys, it's me. I already finished my presentation on this topic last week and the school just ended. Yay! Anyways, this post` highlight is "what exactly causes depersonalization/derealization and how could it be solved". I just want to add some more details about this :) Unfortunately, the causality of the mental diseases hasn't been investigated in detail, even doctors are not aware of the precise causes of its spectrum. A lot of people including me believe that the spectrum negatively...Read More...

Hey guys. A while back, I had a discussion on the Youtuber named Doddleoddle (https://www.youtube.com/doddleoddle) who has been having derealization disorder for so long. In this post, I`d like to summarize how she is feeling in her daily life and how she is handling it. Because I thought it would be a lot helpful to understand and define what`s happening to me by just finding common points in other` case and mine, also, unfortunately, derealization/depersonalization disorder is not as well...Read More...

Hi everyone? Today i will be looking at Drugs from a plant s my inquiry question being why do people use illegal drugs just for fun or self gain? Most drugs today, legal and otherwise, are synthesized in a laboratory. But most medical and recreational drugs originally began in the wild, growing naturally in forests, fields, and deserts. Some can still be found there. Here are some of the country's better known drugs, in their natural, pre-processed form. Opium poppy (heroin, morphine,...Read More...

Hello folks! I've posted an idea and a starting point, but here is my official project plan. I'd love to hear all your thoughts! My topic (as you may have noticed from the title) is why authors of fiction would want to gloss over an unpleasant or traumatic event, or glorify it in some way. Most people admit they love a happy ending, but many authors will write a story that involves a disturbing event, and they'll make the disturbing event seem exciting, attractive, or glamorous, for some odd...Read More...

Hello everyone! In this round, I will briefly give a few points about different fashion trends in history, but mainly, I will be focussing on fashion trends from my time period of study that have recently resurfaced. I have had a request to look at trends around the world, so I have touched on that subject as well. In this round I'll be focussing more on women's fashion, like in my last post. Here was what I found; (Note: any individuals portrayed in the images are not necessarily from the...Read More...

I chose this question because coffee is a major part of my daily routine. Normally I drink 2-3 cups a day. I've heard conflicting opinions on the radio, through media and my peers. These "facts" have ranged anywhere from it can shorten your lifespan to it can lengthen your lifespan. The point I'm trying to make is that I'm not sure who to believe and I want to look further into this and find out for once and for all if coffee is healthy or not.Read More...

Hey everyone! Here is my project plan for my new cycle of research. I'll be taking a completely different route than I did last cycle; my research will now be focused on social norms. My new inquiry question is: Why do we develop social norms and what is their influence on society? I'm really excited to pursue this topic because I think that there's a lot of different aspects to them and different examples, some of which have been controversial in our society. For my first round of research,...Read More...

It's common to face a situation that while we're having a conversation with someone we care, we keep trying to make them know more facets of ourselves, we share our emotion, hobbies, attitudes, and thoughts, but sometimes we still feel a sense of solitude and a feeling that they actually do not know us. What exactly is this need to be understood? What situation will make us feel that we are not understood in the relationship? And how can we let others know us? I’ll work on these questions in...Read More...
