Inquiry Question: Is coffee healthy or unhealthy?

I chose this question because coffee is a major part of my daily routine. Normally I drink 2-3 cups a day. I've heard conflicting opinions on the radio, through media and my peers. These "facts" have ranged anywhere from it can shorten your lifespan to it can lengthen your lifespan.

The point I'm trying to make is that I'm not sure who to believe and I want to look further into this and find out for once and for all if coffee is healthy or not.

Hey Alanna,

Very interesting question since I have heard many myths about coffee myself and I'm curious to know of they are true. I'd hope a drink that people have 2-3 times a day isn't harmful to their health but if it is used as a substitute to sleep/food it could be an issue. Maybe it could just be way the coffee is brewed that can be harmful to others or it could be the caffeine which means more people should be drinking more decaf. Here are some links on coffee and I look forward to reading your round of research!

Hey Alanna!

I really like your inquiry and the fact that you are truly interested in finding an answer will serve you greatly during your time spent researching! I think a big part of your answer may be linked to whether or not it's caffeine that is unhealthy or simply the additives (sugar, milk, etc.) that we add in our coffees.
