CYCLE 3 - How has society's perspective on feminism changed over the past 50 years?

Hi everyone! I'm glad to be back on the site! For my cycle three question, I will be focusing on feminism and it's overall evolution over the past 50 years. Specifically, my question is...

"How has society's perspective on feminism changed over the past 50 years?"

Because of todays media, I believe my question will be very relevant and quite interesting to conduct research on. I will be looking at how each decade looked at feminism and several current topics like the "Time's Up" movement and the many sexual assault allegations in the movie/tv industry.

Keep a look-out for my project plan!

 Hey Heeva!

This is a very relevant topic! There's a lot of buzz about the sexual assault cases in Hollywood, so there are so many stories and info on that. Apparently, there is a lot of recent posts on social media, (especially tumblr) that have an ideology of women being the dominant gender and men being more submissive (and a lot of the people who post that stuff get really out of hand.) Maybe you could look at that perspective as well, if you're interested.

 I anticipate your future research!

Hey Heeva,

It's great that you're tackling this topic! Seeing the evolution of feminism will allow us to understand why it exists and what we can do to achieve equality in a just and earnest way. Furthermore, it would be interesting to look into where feminism started in different places. Perhaps, feminism started in an region many years before it emerged in another region. Here are some sources to help you with your research:

I hope to see your work, and I wish you the best of luck!

Hi Heeva,

This topic is very relevant and important in today's world. I think it would be interesting to talk about the civil rights movement and if that had any influence on the origins of feminism. Another recent campaign to look into is the "Me too" campaign which was started by a social activist by the name of Tarana Burke. I think it would also be fascinating to see if any of these social campaigns have sparked any change from around the world. Here's an article that i found that summarizes the "me too" campaign:

All the best!
