Interesting information. Before I went to Kenya, I did a lot of research about different malaria medications because I was going on malarone. I know that certain medications are no longer functional in certain parts of the world because drug resistant strains of malaria have evolved there. But how is malaria able to evolve different strains? I've always wondered how that works.

Yeah that was defiantly something I wanted to research more thoroughly soon. Right now, I am aware that certain parts of the world are more rural than others, making it harder to get access to antimalarials to prevent or cure a currently-ill patient. Also, different parts of the world have different temperatures and levels of precipitation making several diverse biomes. I think that since the biomes vary by plant species, and minerals, some environments might allow the populations to be...

Cool research! I'm really excited to continue reading your posts! I actually recently read a journal about this topic, and I highly recommend it. It's called "Evolutionary Efficiency and Happiness," and it's about how happiness helps us gauge success. It may be helpful to you.

Hi Yasmin! It could be interesting to look at how happiness acts as a motivator/driving force behind peoples actions whether they be use of drugs or alcohol or excessive eating. You could maybe look at how strong of a force this actually is. Good luck!

Hey Yasmin! I really enjoyed reading your post! You mentioned the use of drugs, such as cocaine in the line: "Many people who suffer with depression or anxiety seek relief by consuming medications or other addictive drugs. Many addictive drugs such as cocaine or methamphetamine act on the dopamine system. GABA is a molecule that creates a sense of calmness in the body and mind. Sedatives such as Xanax work on producing this chemical in your body. All these drugs have many side effects and...

Hi Yasmin, Interesting research! Many in the world today are depressed and 'bored' and so to stop that they drink or do drugs. In my opinion, we are meant to be happy because why would people go out of their way to make themselves or other happy? Obviously there is no one in the world who is happy 24/7 , because life is never easy. I honestly feel really bad when I see someone who is sad, and it makes me sad myself. I think you should look into if stress affects happiness. It may seem...

Hi Yasmen, I found a Ted Talk that I found pretty interesting and I think it will help you with research, because it talks about the effect that smiling and happiness has to do with us. https://www.ted.com/talks/ron_...den_power_of_smiling Also, just a question, are there any other ways of tricking yourself into happiness without drugs? If there is, that may be useful to add to research. Other than that, great job!

Re: Research round #2- Are we meant to be happy?

Hey Yasmin! This is a great topic and your findings so far have been so informative! Now that I think about it, humans technically don’t really need to have happiness to survive. Now that you’ve brought up so many valid and scientific points, I see how humans really just need happiness to drive them towards goals and their ideas. As you mentioned the reward system I saw how we may not actually need to ever be happy, its just something that makes things easier! Have you considered researching...

Hi Claire, excellent work on this post! I love how you incorporated pictures and used a detailed language and organization that was efficient and easy to understand. I would only suggest one thing: maybe look into other factors of diseases on the liver. To elaborate, what other things cause liver disease? You can answer this question and possibly compare it to the effects of drug abuse on the liver and you may get some interesting data. best of luck!
