How will the Fashion industry look in 20 years?
As we know, over time things change, people change and most importantly trends change. In this round of research, I want to look and see if it’s truly possible to predict trends or see what other sources or people have to predict for the future. In one of my articles, I read that fashion and film go hand in hand like peas in a pod. Using this information it is easy to see that certain movies affected fashion and trends during the time. For example in the movie “Bonnie and Clyde” Faye Dunaway was seen rocking the glamourous yet sad and cold look, after this movie came out more people would wear berets, twin sets and midi skirts. After the movie “The Devil Wears Prada” more people were paying attention to the Prada branding and they gained popularity and raised their prices. Knowing this, the trends will likely change based on which movies blow up, what the costume design is and how the new upcoming trends will look. Also, old trends from movies will come back, like this year (2020) more girls started taking style inspiration from Ramona Flowers from “Scott Pilgrim Vs The World” a movie that came out in 2010. With the change in fashion standards, the beauty and makeup side of things will change. Now it is more acceptable in Countries like Canada, the United States of America, China, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom and Colombia for men to wear makeup so hopefully, in the future, more people will be able to express themselves with makeup no matter what gender they identify as. People predict that in the future there will be cosmetic technology that can be used to get your perfect colour based on the ph levels in your skin. Most importantly, how will beauty standards change or improve by the year 2040. Madeline Stuart predicts that by the year 2040 women of all sizes will be able to be models worldwide, inner beauty will be looked at more than physical beauty, being able to accept everyone’s flaws because that’s what makes us human and the models will be better role models for girls.
